As the year comes to a close, it’s a natural time to gather and celebrate with friends and family. There’s also no better time to enjoy time by the fire. The glow of the embers offer warmth and a reprieve from winter’s chilly, short days. Create a cozy and welcoming fireside set up in true Snow Peak style. Enjoy a festive Takibi Time under the December night’s sky.
Set the Scene
The best Takibi Time setups offer more than a campfire. Thoughtfully design your space with furniture, lighting and fireside accessories. First, consider the weather and size of your gathering. Stay warm and dry under the shelter of a fire-resistant Takibi Tarp. Choose between the Hexa Set M, Hexa Evo with the liner add-on and Takibi Tarp Octa, or a combination of multiple tarps, to accommodate your group.
Once you’ve selected your shelter, set up your Takibi Fire & Grill and expand it with the Jikaro Firering Table and IGT extensions. For larger spaces, consider joining two Jikaro Fireing Tables with an extension for dual campfires. Don’t forget to banish smoke with the addition of the Floga! Pair your fireside tables with the lounge-worthy Low Beach Chairs. Their ample back support and sleek bamboo armrests offer added comfort and style.
While the campfire offers its own golden glow, additional lighting will add extra ambiance to your setup. Choose the candle-like Mini Flame to illuminate your table or opt for something brighter like the BF Lantern. Complete your Takibi Time soiree with hot beverages served in an insulated mug or bottle. Try the ever-reliable Ti-Double 450 Mug or enjoy additional volume with the Milk Bottle or Shimo Stein.
Once your friends are gathered with libations in hand, it’s time to start cooking! Treat your campfire companions to a fire-grilled steak. Follow the simple recipe below to achieve a succulent ribeye or sirloin.
Takibi Steak
Gear:
Ingredients:
- 2 boneless ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 1 inch thick)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Olive oil
- Optional: Garlic powder, paprika, or your favorite steak seasoning
Method:
Set up your Takibi Fire & Grill and ensure you have an even bed of hot coals for cooking. We suggest starting your fire before you begin prepping your steaks to give the logs time to burn down.
Pat the steaks dry with paper towels to achieve a better sear. Season both sides of the steak with salt and black pepper. Add any additional seasonings of choice like garlic powder, paprika, or your favorite steak seasoning. Allow the seasoned steaks to rest for about 30 minutes. Then, brush olive oil on both sides of the steaks to prevent sticking and promote a nice sear. You can also coat the grill net with oil for additional stick prevention.
Place the steaks directly over the hot coals on the Takibi Fire & Grill. Sear each side for about 2-3 minutes or until a crust forms. This high heat will give the steaks a nice sear. After searing, you can move the steaks to a cooler part of the grill for indirect heat or use the adjustable grill bridge to elevate the steak and reduce heat intensity.
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130-135°F (54-57°C). Once the steaks reach your desired temperature, remove them from the grill and let them rest for about 5 minutes. Slice the steaks against the grain and serve immediately. You can also add a slice of butter on top for extra flavor. Pair your steak with a side like Cast Iron Mushrooms and Leeks or a Campfire Japanese Sweet Potato.
