Add this whimsical and fragrant cocktail to your beverage repertoire. Cozy up next to the fire and enjoy the warm combination of coffee, liqueur, and rum. It offers the perfect balance of bitter and sweet. You're sure to wow your companions when you ignite the rum and triple sec to caramelize the sugar rim!
Ingredients
3/4 oz 151-proof rum
1/2 oz triple sec
1 1/2 oz coffee liqueur, either Kahlua or Tia Maria
3 oz freshly brewed hot coffee
Whipped cream for garnish
Grated nutmeg for garnish
Sugar, for the rim
Water or lime juice for rimming the mug
Matches, a lighter or Folding Torch
Gear:
Ti-Single 450 Cup
Folding Torch
Instructions:
First, add the sugar to the edge of the mug by rimming some sugar in a shallow bowl, dipping the mug in water or lime juice, and then immersing it in the sugar. Coat both sides of the rim evenly about half of an inch. Then, add the rum and triple sec to the mug, and carefully light it with a match (or Folding Torch, with Fireside Gloves, of course). Swirl the mug so the flame caramelizes the sugar on the rim. Wait until the sugar begins to melt and turns a golden brown. Add the coffee liqueur and coffee, and top with the whipped cream and a dusting of nutmeg. Serve and enjoy!
