Snow Peak has partnered with Junichi Nakane, the artist behind #kumanokoido teddy bears. #kumanokoido teddy bears are handcrafted using unique and individually selected fabrics that represent different world communities and cultures. "Kuma-no-ko" means "cubs" and "ido" means "water well" in Japanese.
Junichi Nakane intends for his bears to connect people around the world. He's partnered with a number of well-known brands such as Arc-Teryx, Adidas, Nike, and Bodega. He started a teddy bear project to raise funds for a fresh water well to benefit local communities in Mali, West Africa. Most recently he used sale proceeds to purchase a van that he donated to a community leader in Bamako, Mali to be used for public transportation. This marked the beginning of a venture that will allow change agents in Bamako, Mali to generate a sustainable income while supporting their local communities.
Nakane has created two teddy bears using the Printed Flexible Insulated fabric from Snow Peak's Spring Summer 2020 apparel season. Visit Snow Peak New York on October 14 from 6pm to 9pm to attend a special showcase of #kumankoido.
