Get to Know: Erik Lauchie
Meet Erik Lauchie, one of our 2024 Snow Peak Ambassadors. Erik splits his time between New York City and Michigan, and recently joined us for Snow Peak Way East in September. He’s the Creative Director and Founder of Carbon Stories.
What are some of your favorite campsite activities?
My favorite part of camping is enjoying taking a break from everyday routines and getting to experience the outdoors in a comfortable way. I love making coffee, playing Catan, and just staring into the fire.
What are your must-haves (gear, favorite meals, refreshments, apparel, anything!) for camping?
My must-haves are the Snow Peak Barista Kit for coffee, and my Patagonia jacket, which always comes with me. These two items are essential for every trip.
What's your current go-to camping setup?
Right now, my go-to setup includes the Alpha Breeze Tent, the IGT Kitchen setup, and a Takibi Tarp Medium. This combination gives me a great space to do everything while staying protected from the elements, especially when rain sneaks up.
In your opinion, what is an underrated Snow Peak item that campers often overlook?
One underrated item I’ve noticed is the Snow Peak Futon. It brings a whole new level of relaxation to the campsite and is incredibly modular, so it can be used for multiple tasks. I don’t use it as often, but it’s definitely a game changer.
What is the best part about being part of the Snow Peak USA camper community?
The best part of being in the Snow Peak USA camper community is the exposure to so many different ways of doing things. I’ve learned so much from talking with and camping alongside people from all around the world.
