A Closer Look: Long Beach Campfield
The Long Beach Campfield opened to campers earlier this month, and we're bringing you along for a closer look at our first campground in North America. Nestled into25 acres on the scenic Long Beach Peninsula, the Campfield sits between the Pacific Ocean and Willapa Bay, with flourishing wildlife and diverse ecosystems in every direction.
Welcome to the Campfield
We hope to host you soon, but in the meantime, join us as we take a "tour" through the grounds, starting at the Gatehouse. The Gatehouse serves as the entry point for campers, housing the check-in desk and rental inventory. After checking in at the front desk, walk down the covered boardwalk to make your entrance into the Campfield.
Find Your Site
The Campfield offers three different kinds of accommodations, Field Sites, Tent Suites and Jyubako Suites (available later this summer). The Field Sites offer a blank slate to create your campsite from scratch. Dotted throughout the Campfield, they come in a variety of sizes and locations based on group size and preference. Camp next to the pond and hear the frogs in the evening, or choose a site close to the Campstore for a short walk to your morning coffee.
Tent Suites offer a turnkey Snow Peak-style camping experience. Simply show up and camp – no set up required. Each site features a spacious shelter with room for two adults and two children. Gather by the Pack & Carry Fireplace for a campfire under the stars and enjoy the convenience of a fully stocked camp kitchen courtesy of the Iron Grill Table and Snow Peak cookware.
Guests may also choose to stay in Jyubakos Suites (small micro cabins), beginning in July. Designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma, the Jyubakos offer a private bathroom, full queen bed and kitchenette. The cabins offer a cozy escape for those who prefer a bit of added luxury with their outdoor experience.
Come together at the Campstore
When conceptualizing the Long Beach Campfield, we sought to create community gathering spaces for campers to mingle and relax. The Campstore serves campers as a one-stop-shop for the essentials you may have forgotten, the Snow Peak gear you want to add to your kit, and a leisurely beverage. Outfitted with camping sundries and robust assortment of Snow Peak's camping gear, you're sure to find just what you need to complete your campsite. Linger for a hot coffee or cold beverage in the adjacent cafe space. Take in the view of the Campfield, play a game at the communal table, or sit by the fire to catch up on some reading.
Clean Up
On our quest to create a comfortable camping experience that mirrors Snow Peak's campgrounds in Japan, we knew we needed to reimagine the status quo campsite bathroom. The Wash House offers fully private, unisex bathrooms and showers, kept clean and inviting by our Campfield staff. Additionally, the Wash House offers a spacious wash station for dishes, eliminating the hassle of the typical spigot/bucket setup.
Take a Soak (Soon)
We're eager to welcome guests to the Ofuro Spa, our soon-to-open spa facility inspired by traditional onsens in Japan. The Ofuro Spa features an indoor/outdoor space overlooking the pond. Guests will feel immersed in nature while they soak in the heated pool or take a cold plunge. Additionally, the spacious sauna offers a place to heat up on cool coastal days, and was designed with temple-grade hinoki cedar with a calming scent that adds to the experience. The Ofuro Spa will be available to guests in early summer.
There's still reservations available for summer and fall at the Long Beach Campfield. Escape to the coast to experience a new kind of camping centered on comfort, leisure and connection with nature. We can't wait to welcome you to the Campfield!
